De krukas van een scooter zet de translerende beweging om in een roterende beweging, wat vervolgens gebruikt kan worden voor de aandrijving. De standaard krukas van een scooter kan vaak geen hoge toeren en krachten aan. Wanneer er dus een snelle cilinder wordt geplaatst is het aan te raden een (race)krukas te monteren met betere specificaties. Ook andere krukaslagers zijn aan te raden. Bij minarelli scooters is standaard een krukas met pen10 zuigerpen geplaatst. Bij snelle cilinders zoals de Polini evolution of Malossi MHR Speed is eigenlijk altijd een Pen12 krukas nodig.
