De bobine is een belangrijk deel van de ontsteking. De bobine versterkt de stroom die vanaf de stator komt d.m.v. het draaien van het vliegwiel. De bobine bevat twee spoelen, een primaire en een secundaire. De bobine wordt middels een kabel(boegiekabel) verbonden met de bougiedop welke vervolgens wordt aangesloten op de bougie.
