De bougie zorgt voor de vonk in de cilinder, zodat het mengsel wordt ontstoken. De bougie is geplaatst in de cilinderkop. Let op er zijn verschillende bougies er zijn korte schacht bougies en lange schacht bougies. Het verschil zit in de lengte van het schroefdraad. Ook heeft elke bougie zijn eigen hittegraat voor standaard scooters licht de hittegraad van de bougie lager dan voor snelle scooters.
